The
Legislative Service Commission staff publishes the Status Report of
Legislation (SRL). The SRL is prepared for each legislative biennial
period and includes all House and Senate bills, joint resolutions, and
concurrent resolutions introduced in a particular General Assembly. This
legislative status information comes from House and Senate Journals,
notices from the Senate clerk, and acts filed with the Secretary of
State.
SRL
ONLINE (daily updates):
The
six online SRL databases are updated daily, adding the most recent
legislative activity for each bill or resolution.
By using the search field in a database, you can find information
regarding the status of an individual bill or resolution in that
database.
For each bill or resolution, the SRL records legislative action,
the date the action took place, and any note about a special situation.
A note is marked by an asterisk and is explained at the bottom of
the bill or resolution page.
The link to the Committee Names, Chairpersons, and Statistics
page provides additional information regarding committees and bill
totals.
SRL
PDF (weekly updates):
The
SRL PDF version, a printable document listing all bills and resolutions,
is updated at the end of each week to reflect legislative activity that
occurred throughout that week. The weekly document indicates action
taken on all bills and resolutions as of the date listed on the bottom
left-hand corner of the document.
In this PDF version, notes are located at the end of the document
after the bills and resolutions but before the final page, which
provides committee names, chairpersons, and legislative action totals.

Microsoft Excel Spreadsheets (weekly updates):
The
SRL Microsft Excel spreadsheets are updated at the end of each week to
reflect legislative activity that occurred throughout that week.
The
spreadsheets are stored as Microsoft Excel 97-2003 Workbooks and can be
opened with Microsoft Excel 97, 2003, or 2007.
Viewing
the Online SRL databases:
When
you select and open any one of the six bill or resolution databases, you
should see a large box listing all of the bills or resolutions contained
on that database. If you see a large gray box and no list of bills
or resolutions, information may be blocked by a security program.
To correct the problem:
1.
Close out of your browser and reenter the site.
2.
Click on the check-box for "Always trust content......" to avoid
the Security Warning box in the future.
3.
Click on "Yes" to install the applet.
